Aviv Biomedical, Inc. and Beckman Coulter, Inc. are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to allow the Aviv Fluorescence Detection System (FDS) to be installed into existing Optimatm and ProteomeLabtm XL-A and XL-I analytical ultracentrifuges. The FDS system enhances the performance of the XL-A/XL-I with an orthogonal approach to sample characterization that provides the capability to measure the behavior of an individual (fluorescently tagged) species in a mixture.
Installation and verification of the FDS System will be performed by Aviv Biomedical. Beckman Coulter will verify operation of the XL-A/XL-I with pre- and post-inspections.

Aviv Biomedical is pleased to announce that the AU-FDS is now in production. Three units have been fielded by the CAMIS at the University of New Hampshire via its beta site program and two additional units have been delivered by Aviv. Long-term arrangements with Beckman-Coulter are being negotiated to ensure continuous support for Service of the XL-A, XL-I and AU-FDS. The advantages of the AU-FDS over the absorbance and interference detectors are superior sensitivity, selectivity and dynamic range. The AU-FDS promises to be a tool allowing measurements that were impossible before now.
